The story of Anthony M. Gagliardi, president and founder of Vision Builders Company, Inc. is a success story that defines The American Dream. As a teenager and college student, Anthony learned the inner workings of the construction business literally from the ground up from his father, Antonio, a stone mason in the classic Old World tradition who himself had built a thriving enterprise specializing in public-bid projects. Early on, Anthony learned the meaning of taking a vision and turning it into a reality – stone by stone, brick by brick, from foundation to finish. Anthony joined the family construction firm in 1995, putting his apprenticed skills and Bentley College MBA degree in Finance to work to run the company for nearly a decade. Soon, he put his in-field experience to use by gradually shifting the business model from public-bid to private-owner projects – quickly realizing the competitive advantages of having the right experience, the right resources, and most importantly, the right attitude. He found his niche in the private sector, where he could concentrate on building relationships; where projects are motivated more by value and less by politics. Today’s property developers and architects are looking, after all, for an equal in a commercial contractor – someone who will execute their vision and working drawings with accuracy and precision, on budget and on schedule – without involving them in subcontractor, materials or permitting issues. With those considerations in mind, Anthony Gagliardi has created a business model for Vision Builders that is strict on the fundamentals, yet flexible and agile enough to quickly shift gears to accommodate changes and deal with unanticipated challenges, as his repeat customers are quick to point out. Anthony says he wants that repeat business, and will do everything humanly possible to make that happen, but realizes that his solutions-oriented work methodology may also result in one-time clients. “I see myself not just as a builder, but as a thinker,” comments Gagliardi. “My forward thinking approach definitely comes from my old school training,” he adds. “We are a hands-on, not a ‘briefcase’ contractor who places as much emphasis on the customer experience as we do on the actual finished product.”
